Cinnamomum Cassia

An evergreen tree from southern regions of China, Cassia is different than Ceylon, true cinnamon. Cassia is not quite as expensive or prized as a culinary spice.  However, there are more case studies for the medicinal properties of Cassia.  It higher than Ceylon in cinnamaldehyde, the active compound responsible for its medicinal benefits. 

Cinnamaldehyde has anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties.  Furthermore, it increases insulin sensitivity and helps regulate blood sugar, helping individuals with diabetes. 

Cassia Is also indicated for improving blurred vision, clearing bloodshot eyes, alleviating constipation, reducing high blood pressure, and helping to prevent cancer.
